CD Projekt Red Reveals How Many Devs Are Working on the Next Mainline Witcher Game
CD Projekt Red has revealed that over 250 developers are working on the next mainline Witcher game, which is codenamed Polaris. The game entered pre-production last May, and in October CD Projekt confirmed that it would be the start of a new Witcher trilogy. It also said it was planning to release all three games within a six-year period after the first.
The development team for Polaris is made up of experienced developers from CD Projekt Red’s previous games, as well as new hires. The team is led by Jason Slama, who previously worked on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Polaris is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, and it is expected to be a more ambitious game than The Witcher 3. The game will feature a new open world, a new story, and new gameplay mechanics.
CD Projekt Red has not yet announced a release date for Polaris, but it is expected to be released sometime in the early 2020s.
Here are some other details about the next mainline Witcher game:
- It will be set in a new region of the Continent, not seen in previous games.
- It will feature a new protagonist, not Geralt of Rivia.
- It will be a more action-oriented game than The Witcher 3.
- It will be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
The next mainline Witcher game is one of the most anticipated games in development. CD Projekt Red has a lot of goodwill with fans after the success of The Witcher 3, so there is a lot of excitement for what they can do with the next game.
