Epic First Run Offers Developers Six-Month 100% Revenue Share For Epic Games Store Exclusivity
Epic Games has announced a new program called Epic First Run that offers developers a 100% revenue share for the first six months of exclusivity on the Epic Games Store. The program is open to all developers, regardless of the size or genre of their game.
To be eligible for the program, games must be released first on the Epic Games Store and not be available on any other PC store or platform for the first six months. After the six-month exclusivity period, the revenue share will revert to the standard 88/12 split.
Epic Games says that the program is designed to help developers “maximize their revenue potential” and “give them more control over their games.” The company also says that the program is “not a reaction to any specific competitor.”
The Epic First Run program is similar to the Steam Direct program, which allows developers to self-publish their games on Steam without going through a curation process. However, the Epic First Run program offers a more generous revenue share for the first six months of exclusivity.
It remains to be seen how successful the Epic First Run program will be. However, it is a significant move by Epic Games to try to attract more developers to its platform.
