First in Two-Part Haikyuu! Film Project Gets Title

The first in the two-part Haikyuu! film project has been titled “Haikyuu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump”. The title was announced on the official Twitter account of the Haikyuu!! anime series on August 27, 2023.

The film is set to adapt the manga’s “Spring Tournament: Interhigh Preliminary Matches” arc, which follows the Karasuno High School volleyball team as they compete in the Interhigh preliminary tournament. The arc features the team’s rematch against their longtime rivals, the Nekoma High School volleyball team.

The film is scheduled to be released in Japanese theaters on December 24, 2023. The second film in the project has not yet been announced.

The Haikyuu!! anime series is based on the manga of the same name by Haruichi Furudate. The manga has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since 2012 and has over 50 million copies in circulation. The anime series has been produced by Production I.G and has aired for four seasons.

The Haikyuu!! franchise is very popular and has won numerous awards, including the Kodansha Manga Award and the Shogakukan Manga Award. The series has also been adapted into a live-action film and a stage play.
