One of the PS5’s Best Launch Titles Could Be Getting a Follow-Up
Sony has filed trademarks for Astro Bot, suggesting that a new game in the franchise could be in development. Astro’s Playroom was one of the best-received launch titles for the PS5, and it was praised for its use of the DualSense controller and its homage to PlayStation’s past.
The trademark filing was made in Japan in July 2022, and it covers the use of the Astro Bot name for “video game software,” “video game programs,” and “downloadable electronic game software.” This suggests that Sony is planning to release a new Astro Bot game, but it’s not clear when that might happen.
Team Asobi, the developer behind the Astro Bot series, is reportedly working on its biggest project yet, which may or may not feature Astro Bot characters. However, it’s possible that the new Astro Bot game is the project that Team Asobi is working on.
If a new Astro Bot game is in development, I’m sure it will be a lot of fun. The first game was a great showcase for the PS5’s capabilities, and I’m excited to see what Team Asobi can do with the sequel.
Here are some of the things I’m hoping to see in a new Astro Bot game:
- More levels and worlds to explore
- More challenging puzzles and obstacles
- New enemies and bosses to fight
- Improved use of the DualSense controller
- A longer story mode
