Shadowrun Returns
Shadowrun Returns is a single-player, tactical role-playing game set in the science fantasy world of Shadowrun. The game was developed and published by Harebrained Schemes, and was crowdfunded through Kickstarter. It was released for Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux, iOS, and Android in 2013.
The game is set in the year 2054, in a world where magic has returned to Earth, and technology has merged with flesh and consciousness. Elves, trolls, orks, and dwarves walk among humans, while ruthless corporations bleed the world dry.
You play as a shadowrunner, a mercenary who lives on the fringes of society. You take on jobs from the powerful and the desperate, and use your skills and abilities to get the job done.
The game features a turn-based combat system, where you control your team of shadowrunners as they take on enemies in a variety of environments. You can use a variety of weapons and abilities to defeat your opponents, and you need to carefully plan your moves in order to survive.
Shadowrun Returns received positive reviews from critics, who praised the game’s setting, story, and combat system. The game was also a commercial success, selling over one million copies.
The game was followed by two sequels, Shadowrun: Dragonfall – Director’s Cut and Shadowrun: Hong Kong. A remastered compilation of all three games, titled Shadowrun Trilogy, was released in 2022.
