Shazam’s Adam Brody Missed Out On A Pretty Significant Marvel Role

Adam Brody revealed in a recent interview that he auditioned for the role of Peter Quill/Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy. The role ultimately went to Chris Pratt, who has made the character his own and helped to make the Guardians of the Galaxy one of the most popular franchises in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Brody said that he was “torn up” about not getting the role, but he also acknowledged that Pratt was a better fit. “He is bigger, stronger,” Brody said. “But tonally, I really dug it.”

Brody is no stranger to superhero movies. He had a cameo in Shazam! in 2019, and he will appear in the upcoming sequel, Shazam! Fury of the Gods. He is also set to star in the DC Comics-inspired TV series Dead Boy Detectives.

Here are some other actors who have turned down Marvel roles:

  • Russell Crowe turned down the role of Wolverine.
  • Matt Damon turned down the role of Daredevil.
  • Rachel McAdams turned down the role of Pepper Potts.
  • Emily Blunt turned down the roles of Black Widow and Agent Carter.
  • Mel Gibson turned down the role of Odin.
  • Jessica Chastain turned down the role of Maya Hansen.
  • Joaquin Phoenix turned down the role of Doctor Strange.

Of course, there are also many actors who have accepted Marvel roles and gone on to become stars. Some of the most notable examples include Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), and Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange).
